On 17 July 2018, SSA youths and Muslim friends from the Darul Ghufran Mosque and Ba’alwie Mosque came together to discuss prevailing topics of concerns to the youth of today. These topics included “How do youth today transcend the seemingly increasing social divide in Singapore?” and “How to create a solidarity of youth beyond race and religions for global civilisation?”
Through the conversation, the youths discussed the need for youth-led efforts in transcending social divides through volunteerism opining that though young people may have the heart to volunteer, there could be other priorities in life such as building a family or pursuing career advancements. The positive impact of youth-led efforts thus creates a ripple effect that encourages other youth to volunteer as well as this would serve as peer encouragement for each other.
